Principle Accountability
As a Grants & Administration Assistant within the Development Operations team, you will actively contribute towards the implementation of CAMFED’s ambitious strategy, working alongside colleagues globally to ensure we are able to effectively meet our commitments to our donors and bring in new funding. You will provide administrative and logistical support to Development Operations team members, underpinning our ability to effectively manage and maintain information and ensure compliance with donor contracts. As part of this, you will help support and streamline our processes around grant administration, fundraising and knowledge management, helping to embed greater efficiency and consistency across systems and ensure valuable learning is cascaded across teams. You will also directly manage a portfolio of grants and support with the preparation of donor reports and other communications, gaining entry level experience of grant management and helping to directly steward funds in support of CAMFED’s programme.
The role will be varied and fast-paced, collaborative and process driven, and enable a detailed understanding of CAMFED’s programmes. It will suit someone who is resourceful, curious, adaptable and organised, someone who values teamwork and efficiency, is detail oriented and at ease across databases and office software.

CAMFED (the Campaign for Female Education) is internationally recognized as a leader in girls’ education, for its child protection policy and practice, and as a voice for girls’ education and women’s empowerment at the highest levels. Founded in 1993, CAMFED supports girls throughout their primary and secondary school years and supports women to transition to productive and fulfilling livelihoods and onto leadership, as role models, activists and philanthropists. CAMFED International supports effective coordination across the CAMFED Consortium which also includes entities in Malawi, Ghana, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, USA, Canada and Australia.
Specific Accountabilities
Grant management and stewardship of funds
Lead the regular review of managed grants, working in partnership with CAMFED’s Africa offices to ensure contract compliance and optimal use of restricted funds. This could include reviewing financial and programmatic information to support work planning and check that progress and budget management is on track.
Support the preparation of relevant communications to support CAMFED’s relationship with funding partners and Boards. This could include coordinating input from colleagues internationally/across functions, and drafting input for report documentation as appropriate.
Update and maintain data on CAMFED’s information management system across the full portfolio of grants, including set-up of new grants and income processing.
Design and maintain tools and approaches for supporting effective grant management and system audits, including Salesforce reports and dashboards
Fundraising
Update and maintain data on CAMFED’s information management system relating to upcoming statutory funding opportunities.
Coordinate the pipeline of potential statutory funding, and support Development Operations colleagues to research and qualify new statutory prospects.
Knowledge management
Work closely with global Development Operations team members to keep key programme, operational and grant administration reference materials up to date and relevant.
Work with Fundraising, Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning, Finance and Programme teams to strengthen information sharing and management and support us to maximise opportunities for learning across teams.
Fact-checking and accuracy
Provide proofreading and cross checking support for donor reporting, proposal development and programme resources.
Undertake research and fact-checking support to colleagues, including in support of report delivery and new funding opportunities.
Team administration and logistics
Provide administrative support by scheduling meetings, and appointments for the DevOps team, organise team communications, including email correspondence and updates.
Coordination team meetings/events, as well as logistical support to Development Operations colleagues for work-related travel.
Other
Support with particular areas of work outside of donor engagement and compliance, such as BTEC, loan administration, curriculum development, etc., where needed.

Person Specification
Strong organisational and time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Detailed- oriented, ability to progress multiple workstreams and prioritise effectively.
Experience of working in a collaborative team environment - experience of working in an international team and across different cultures would be beneficial
Familiarity with Salesforce would be beneficial, but not essential - all necessary training will be provided
