CAMFED (Campaign for Female Education) is a multi-award winning, international non-profit organization with a mission to multiply educational opportunities for girls and empower young women to step up as leaders in sub-Saharan Africa.
Through our peer support and leadership network, the CAMFED Association, women are leading action on the big challenges their communities face – from girls’ exclusion to climate change. This unique pan-African network of teachers, nurses, doctors, sustainable agriculture experts and entrepreneurs numbers is growing every year as more girls complete school and join them. Nicholas Kristof, writing in the New York Times, described CAMFED’s model as ‘a perpetual motion machine… a virtuous cycle that grows over time.’

Pay
We use external data to benchmark our salaries against the wider NGO sector, so that we are confident we offer competitive and fair rates of pay.
We continue to monitor the market trends to ensure we maintain a proactive approach.

Pensions
We are committed to providing team members with a retirement pension, available at retirement.
Subject to location we will contribute the equivalent of 8-10% of the team members' gross salary into a designated pension scheme.

Interest Free Loans
We offer short term personal loans to all team members. The loan is repaid monthly as a direct deduction from salary, within the calendar year in which it is advanced.

Leave
Everyone needs time away from work to spend quality time with family and friends, to recharge, to travel, etc.
All team members are entitled to a minimum of 25 days’ leave annually (pro rata), which includes 5 days provided by CAMFED around the Christmas/ New Year period, plus local public holidays.

Health
We will provide medical aid cover for all team members in Africa, their legal spouse or partner and a minimum of up to two children to 18 years of age.
In the US and Canada, medical, dental and vision insurance schemes are available for our team members.

We want all our team members to develop their potential, and see learning and personal development as a shared responsibility.
Managers play a crucial role, as they help facilitate, guide, and promote learning within their teams.
Our ambition is to embed learning into everyday practice for all, fostering a culture where learning is embraced, encouraged and valued as a key contributor to improved individual and collective performance.

Wellbeing
Wellbeing is a vital part of CAMFED's success. Putting into action the CAMFED core values of equity and inclusion relies on the wellbeing of our team members, because when they thrive as an individual we thrive as an organisation.
Our People and Culture Hub provides a wealth of resources, we offer a Global Wellbeing Day in October, and our team of Mental Health Champions provide support and take action in the workplace to reduce stigma and change the way we all think and act about mental health.

Employee Assistance Programme
We have partnered with Workplace Options, and EAP specialist, to provide all team members and their household members with free and confidential mental health, wellbeing, counselling, and practical support.
The EAP enables all team members to seek help with any personal or workplace issues that might be impacting their performance, well-being, mental or physical health.

Continuous Performance Management
Continuous Performance Management (CPM) is an approach to evaluation and development that focuses on ongoing communication and feedback between managers and team members.
By holding regular check-ins, setting short-term goals and discussing development, career progression and wellbeing, it provides team members with ongoing clarity, support, and feedback to help them excel in their roles and continue to thrive.
CPM deepens our relationships and levels of trust thereby supporting us to have even greater personal and collective impact.
