Principal Accountability
Under the direction of the Senior Finance Manager and under the direct supervision of the Finance Manager the Senior Finance Officer will be responsible for the daily maintenance and smooth running of an accurate and up-to-date management accounting function, leading to the provision of timely and accurate management and donor reports.
The job holder will also be particularly responsible for diversified managerial accounting function resulting in the preparation of all month end bank reconciliation statement, consolidation of Weekly Payment, processing of correctional Journals to resolve all variances in donor report. He or she is the point person for Bursary analysis.
The Senior Finance Officer will further be responsible for promptly updating the Quarterly Expenditure Authorization (EA), lead in the preparation of weekly cash position and forecast and timely requisition for funds when needed.

Founded in 1993, CAMFED supports girls throughout their primary and secondary school years and supports women to transition to productive and fulfilling livelihoods and onto leadership, as role models, activists, and philanthropists. CAMFED operates in Ghana, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Malawi. CAMFED began working in Ghana in 1998, and is currently operating in 38 districts, working closely with the Ministry of Education.
Specific accountabilities and responsibilities
Planning, controlling, Monitoring and Reporting- 60%
- Assisting other teams and FM in the preparation of operating budgets, and also in preparing management reports for sharing with managers.
- Preparing for review, accurate and timely weekly journals for all transactions (petty cash, bank payments and advance retirements, cancelled cheques etc.)
- Assist to engage with other functional teams and providing weekly variance analysis with commentary for corrective actions to be taken, and also undertake regular review of donor reports to ensure that issues of underspends and overspends are timely addressed before reporting time.
- Maintaining an updated Non-Current Asset Register with evidence of quarterly physical verification exercises conducted
- Reviewing the vehicle log book twice a month and signing off on it, and also perform vehicle fuel consumption analysis on a monthly basis.
- Assisting in the reconciliation and analysis of the 22600 and also following up with districts and other stakeholders to check receipt of funds and issuing official receipts and also ensuring that all funds are properly accounted for after completion of activities and also accurate journals prepared to liquidate them.
- Timely Preparation of correctional Journals, leading to the preparation of bank reconciliation statement on weekly basis.
Building Sustainable External Stakeholders Relationship, Support and Team Work -20%
- Support the finance team on monitoring the District for prompt advance retirement
- Support the planning, coordination, and eventual implementation of Financial Training Manual or Guide Book for district partners. Further assist in the effective monitoring of the usage of the Financial Training Manual.
- Help in organizing relevant financial training for stakeholders on quarterly basis.
- Support in the processing of bursary payments and obtaining all the necessary support documents, including detailed calculations of cost allocations and attach to Payment Requisition Form (PRF).
Information Management system -10%
- Ensure accurate filing of all financial documents (both manual and electronic) for easy referencing and retrieval.
- Ensure all queries raised on scanned documentations are fully addressed promptly.
Coordination and Supervision – 10%
- Supervise Finance Assistant(s)
- Assist the People and Culture, Strategic Partnership & Comms and MERL teams with their financial activities.
- Assist in the monthly reconciliation and analysis of KIVA Loans and repayments as well as all payments made through the mobile money platform.
Person specification
- Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or relevant field
- Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years relevant working experience in a similar role
- Outstanding analytical and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate a high level of ethical conduct in managing financial transactions and sensitive information.
- Ensure confidentiality of financial records, donor information, and sensitive data.
- Good knowledge of CAMFED’s programmes will be an advantage
