Job Title: Senior Finance Officer
Location: Kenya
Contract: 2 years Fixed Term Contract
Reporting to: Head of Programme

CAMFED (Campaign for Female Education) is internationally recognized as a leader in education for girls, for its child protection policy and practice, as a voice for girls’ education and women’s empowerment at the highest levels. Founded in 1993, CAMFED supports young women throughout their primary and secondary school years, into economic training and further education, and onto leadership, as role models, activists, and philanthropists.
Principle Accountability
The Senior Finance Officer role will be based in Kenya, with direct reporting to the Head of Programme. The Senior Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations, accurate and up-to-date accounting system, managing information for planning, control and decision making, and providing timely and accurate financial reports.
Specific Accountabilities
● Conduct weekly reconciliations and share with teams any transactions that require to be cleared. Follow up any outstanding balances to ensure timely clearance and close out.
● Reviewing and processing of cash requests.
● Providing monthly analysis of all ledger balances and transactions thereof and advising corrective action required.
● Monthly review of general ledger transactions for completeness and accuracy and flagging with any transactions that need corrective action.
● Review of monthly management reports to ensure that they are complete and accurate to inform management decision making.
● Review and analysis of the Fixed Asset registers and the quarterly depreciation calculations.
● Provide support during internal and external audits as needed.
● Carry out regular visits to counties and to partner organizations to provide capacity building as well as ensuring compliance with CAMFED’s internal financial guidelines and policies.
● Review account reconciliations.
● Consolidation of the Quarterly country reports.
● Support with the review of the country Quarterly Expenditure plans (EA) and the ensuing EAAs to provide support on EA execution.
● Ad hoc financial analysis, reviews and reports as required.
● Review of grant financial reports and support in framing high quality variance commentaries.
● Conduct reviews and analysis of overhead recoveries in the country
● Any other duties as defined by Line Manager, Director of Finance, Africa and/or Senior Management
Person Specification
● Excellent numeracy and financial awareness.
● Demonstrable experience in Finance and Accounting.
● Flexible, self-motivated and hard-working individual who will work well in a dynamic and creative team in a fast-moving environment.
● Good organizational skills, creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
● Experience working as part of a global team.

● The ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle highly sensitive information.
● The ability to demonstrate integrity throughout the decision-making process.
● The ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships and to work in an inclusive and collaborative manner with internal and external stakeholders.

● Well organized and able to prioritize workload.
