Contract: 15-month Fixed Term Contract, Full time, Hybrid

Principle Accountability
This role provides financial and analytical support to the UK finance team during a fixed-term maternity cover period. The Assistant Management Accountant will assist in the administration of the purchase ledger, preparation of journal entries, completion of monthly reconciliations, and contribute to financial reporting to support the organisation.

CAMFED (Campaign for Female Education) supports young women throughout their primary and secondary school years, into economic training and further education, and onto leadership, as role models, activists, and philanthropists. Our focus is on vulnerable girls and young women in rural areas of Africa.
Specific Accountabilities
Expenditure Management
Administration of purchase ledger, including preparation of documentation, review of staff expenses, arranging appropriate approval and authorisation, entry into the finance system, creation of weekly payment run and bank payment file and sending remittance advices to suppliers.
Handling petty cash transactions, and entry into financial system.
Preparation of expenditure authorisation forms for staff travel, including calculation of appropriate meal rates and analysis of advances to be made to employees.
Preparation of credit card transactions and posting into financial system.
Accruals and Prepayments
Income Administration
Review of bank statements.
Preparation of income reports for donations received, and liaising with fundraising team to ensure all donations recorded in financial system.
Reconciliation of donation income to cash received.
Financial Reporting
Production of monthly Management reports for UK departments
Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register and preparation of depreciation journals
Assist with budget preparation and forecasting
Provide support during the annual external audit
Person Specification
Financial related degree or similar
Working towards a professional Accountancy qualification
Interest in international development
Essential
Excellent numeracy and financial awareness
Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Office, with excellent excel skills
Good organisational skills, creative thinking and excellent written and oral communication skills
Flexible, self-motivated and hard-working individual who will work well in a dynamic and creative team in a fast-moving environment
Fast learner and highly organised
Ability to work to deadlines.
