Job Title: Assistant Management Accountant (UK) - Maternity Cover
Location: Cambridge, UK (Hybrid)
Office Working: Expected to work from the Cambridge office 1 day per week
Salary: £30,987 per annum
Contract: Full-time, fixed term maternity cover for up to 15 months
Start date: Ideally on or before 1 October 2026
Reporting to: Management Accountant
Eligibility & Right to Work: Please note we do not hold a Home Office Sponsor Licence and are unable to provide visa sponsorship. Therefore, we can only accept applications from candidates who possess the independent Right to Work in the UK for the full duration of the contract.

CAMFED (Campaign for Female Education) supports young women throughout their primary and secondary school years, into economic training and further education, and on to leadership as role models, activists, and philanthropists. Our focus is on vulnerable girls and young women in rural areas of Africa.
About the Role
This role provides financial and analytical support to the UK finance team during a fixed-term maternity cover period. The Assistant Management Accountant will assist in the reconciliation of income received, preparation of journal entries, completion of monthly reconciliations, and contribute to financial reporting to support the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Expenditure Management
Administer the purchase ledger, including preparing documentation, reviewing staff expenses, arranging appropriate approval and authorisation, entering information into the finance system, creating weekly payment runs and bank payment files, and sending remittance advices to suppliers.
Handle petty cash transactions and entry into the financial system.
Prepare expenditure authorisation forms for staff travel, including calculating appropriate meal rates and analysing advances to be made to employees.
Prepare credit card transactions and post them into financial system.
Prepare accruals and prepayments.
Income Administration
Review of bank statements.
Prepare income reports for donations received and liaise with fundraising team to ensure all donations are recorded in the financial system.
Reconciliation of donation income to cash received.
Forecast income expected to be received.
Financial Reporting
Produce monthly Management reports for UK departments.
Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Prepare quarterly Gift in Kind and Gift Aid claims.
Provide support during the annual external audit.
Preparation of timesheets for the UK office.

Person Specification
Finance-related degree or equivalent experience.
Working towards a professional accountancy qualification.
Interest in international development.
Essential
Excellent numeracy and financial awareness.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, with excellent Excel capability.
Excellent organisational skills, creative thinking, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Flexible, self-motivated and hard-working, with the ability to work well in a dynamic, creative and fast-moving team environment.
Fast learner with strong attention to detail.
Ability to work to deadlines.
Independent right to work in the UK for the full duration of the contract.
