CAMFED USA Foundation is a member of the global CAMFED consortium. With CAMFED’s growing public profile and high-level support in the US, we have an exciting opportunity to expand our financial and operations team in service of meeting the ambitious goals of our global strategic plan.
The Head of Finance & Compliance is a key member of CAMFED’s global finance team, collaborating with CAMFED staff both within the United States and internationally.

Accountabilities:
CAMFED USA Finance/Accounting
Oversee the accounting and reporting of all CAMFED USA financial matters, with the exception of revenue.
Serve as the lead point of contact with main responsibility for the annual external and internal audits.
Manage the Form 990 preparation and all other reporting to regulatory bodies for federal and state tax, employment compliance, and other regulatory matters.
Ensure compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
Maintain, design, and continuously improve internal controls to safeguard the financial integrity of the organization. Ensure internal controls are in place that protect the organization against fraud and provide assurances that accounting records are accurate and complete.
Help manage the continuous development of the financial accounting system.
Review monthly and year-end financial statements according to US GAAP.
Provide technical financial support to other functional departments and other finance teams in the global consortium.
Be a proactive leader in seeking to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the organizations’ procedures, compliance activities and systems. Streamline inefficiencies within the organization; develop systems and processes that minimize the number of resources to complete tasks, while maintaining the strongest level of internal controls.
Stay abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and changes in accounting standards to ensure the organization’s financial practices remain current and effective.
Serve as a key point person to CAMFED’s finance teams internationally.
Support in leading CAMFED USA Foundation's annual budget and reporting to the CAMFED USA Board.
Manage the cash flows and ensure the accounts at CAMFED’s banking institutions are properly maintained and periodically evaluated for opportunities for improvements.
Provide training to and review the work of the Finance & Operations Manager, the Senior Accounting & Operations Officer, and the Accounting & Operations Officer, for example in the areas of accounts payable, staff reimbursement, stock donations, monthly reconciliations, journal entries, etc.
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment, and promoting professional growth and development.
Ensure full compliance with nonprofit and tax regulations.
Support organizational risk management and related insurance coverage.
Lead month-end close. Ensure accurate and timely completion of monthly and quarterly reconciliations.
Operations
Support US strategic operations, planning, growth, and other duties as required.
Manage the review and approval of all contracts, with the exception of donor contracts.
Help manage the administration and accounting of US payroll and HR processes.
Provide support for people and culture and payroll functions, reviewing payroll submissions to third-party, reviewing quarterly 941s, reviewing reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with laws and company policies.
Oversee CAMFED USA day-to-day matters including liaising with IT teams, remote office matters, oversee team travel, registrations, regulatory matters, and other duties as required.
Qualifications:
CPA strongly preferred
Prior experience as an auditor strongly preferred, especially with nonprofit audits
Solid experience successfully coordinating audit activities, budgeting, and reporting. Deep knowledge of internal controls, accounts payable, grants and contribution revenue recognition, and payroll
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
Significant prior experience in nonprofit private accounting or nonprofit public accounting, at the Head level or equivalent
Strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Superior communication skills
Experience managing staff
Commitment and passion for CAMFED’s values, mission and vision
Excellent written, verbal, and inter-personal communication skill
Strong organizational and project management skills and very detail oriented
