CAMFED USA Foundation is a member of the global CAMFED consortium. With CAMFED’s growing public profile and high-level support in the US, we have an exciting opportunity to expand our financial and operations team in service of meeting the ambitious goals of our global strategic plan.
The Head of Finance – Revenue & Grants is a key member of CAMFED’s global finance team, collaborating with CAMFED staff both within the US and internationally.

Key Responsibilities:
Income & Grants
● Oversee the accounting and financial reporting of all CAMFED USA income and grants.
Ensure proper income recognition across CAMFED USA revenue streams.
Oversee proper documentation for organizational and audit purposes, as well as timely and accurate recording of transactions.
In charge of funding proposal requests, donor financial reports, and donor invoices as applicable.
Manage the calendar tracking grant financial and compliance requirements and deliverables. Ensure all required reports are prepared and submitted in accordance with contract or grant requirements.
Monitor monthly grant expenses for compliance with donor intent and budget guidelines.
Manage restricted income related to gifts in kind.
Review financial reports of US grants and the supporting documentation received from other CAMFED entities before reports are submitted to funders.
Prepare the annual budgeted programmatic allocation and grant budget figures.
Monitor A/R, prepare reports, and follow-up with funders on aged receivables.
In charge of the discount of pledges to the present value of future cash flows.
If applicable, in charge of an allowance for doubtful accounts and bad debt processing.
Perform regular reconciliations between the general ledger, temporarily restricted net asset rollforward, schedule of active awards, and grant records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Coordinate journal entries for overhead and staff cost grant recoveries.
Coordinate the dual consolidation ledger entries and any restricted income releases.
Review the income and grants components of monthly and year-end financial statements according to US GAAP.
Generate ad-hoc financial reports as requested by senior management or other stakeholders.
Help coordinate with other CAMFED entities regarding cash transfers for funding requests from CUSA income streams.
Serve as a key point person for the fundraising and development operations teams. Support with proposal questions, financial grant management, and any donor-related finance questions.
Serve as a key point person to CAMFED’s finance teams internationally. Act as a financial resource to staff throughout the organization for revenue streams and financial grant matters. Regularly engage with international colleagues to foster effective communication and collaboration for CUSA grants.
Ensure compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
In the areas of income and financial grant management, help design, maintain, and continuously improve internal controls to safeguard the financial integrity of the organization. Ensure internal controls are in place that protect the organization against fraud and provide assurances that accounting records are accurate and complete.
In the areas of income and financial grant management, help manage the continuous development of the financial accounting system.
Stay abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and changes in accounting standards to ensure the organization’s financial practices remain current and effective.
Conduct special projects and resolve complex operating and financial issues.
Accounting & Operations
● As applicable, support the wider CUSA Finance & Operations Team in ad-hoc projects, temporary coverage, or support across the broader team functions.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
Significant prior experience in nonprofit private accounting or nonprofit public accounting, at the Senior Manager level or higher
Solid experience successfully coordinating audit activities, budgeting, and reporting. Deep knowledge of internal controls, accounts payable, grants and contribution revenue recognition, and payroll
Strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Superior communication skills
Experience managing staff
Commitment and passion for CAMFED’s values, mission and vision
Excellent written, verbal, and inter-personal communication skills
Strong organizational and project management skills and very detail oriented
Proactive, curious, and ability to “think outside of the box”
Able to work to tight deadlines, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple workstreams

Eligible to work legally in the United States.
